Our signature Dare To Dream program recognizes the special hopes and aspirations of our residents–and then makes them a reality! We aim to make at least one resident’s dream come true each month in our community.

We focus on our residents’ histories, accomplishments, lifestyles, hobbies, interests, and dreams–and use what we learn to craft a customized plan to keep each community member:

Stories From Our Community
Joyce
When Joyce found out that the Gaither Vocal Band would be coming to the Civic Center to perform, she was thrilled! Joyce, along with her husband and her son, used to listen to them sing gospel music every night on the television.
Joyce shared with us that her husband always promised her one day he’d get her to meet Bill Gaither, the man who started it all. Both Joyce’s husband and son developed cancer, and during that time, she wrote in to Bill to have him pray for her family. The Gaithers even sent a letter back to Joyce during this time. All these years later, The Gaither Vocal Band came back through Des Moines to perform!
Jo
Jo is known for her legacy at Central College. Not only is she one of five generations of women to attend school there—but she was also a member of the cheerleading team and Homecoming Queen in 1952!
Nothing makes Jo happier than talking about Central, so Edencrest at the Legacy worked with the school to help get her involved in this year’s festivities. After a nice meal at a VIP table, cheering with the current squad, and some special introductions, Jo got to crown Central’s 2018 Homecoming King and Queen!
Charming
Charming always wanted to take a ride on a helicopter. She had a brother in the Navy who flew them and Charming and her late husband had plans that fell through at one point. Charming mentioned her dream to Jessica one day at Glenwood Place Assisted Living and the wheels got in motion to make it happen.
Charming said “I never thought I would be able to take one, I had given up on it” when discussing the ride. After the ride she said “I was surprised at how much water was on the ground” and “That is a day I will always remember”.
Glenwood Place has a Dare to Dream program which helps make dreams come true for its residents.
