Frequently Asked Questions
Here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions people have about senior living.
Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) are routine activities that people who are entirely independent can be expected to do on a daily basis without assistance. These include: taking medications, personal hygiene such as showering and brushing one’s teeth, getting dressed, getting around, and getting into and out of bed. Assisted Living residents generally need extra assistance with one or more of these.
Resident activities are geared to each individual’s personal interests. At Arcadian Cove, our Life Enrichment Coordinators meet with each resident to learn about their personal interests and then design activities around these. The Life Enrichment Coordinators will also take into account a resident’s age, health status, sensory abilities, lifestyle, ethnic, cultural, and religious beliefs, values, experiences, needs, abilities, and skills when planning activities.
Residents are more than welcome to furnish their apartments with their own personal furniture and belongings. Blinds are provided in each apartment, and residents may hang draperies, valances, and pictures, as well. Our Maintenance Coordinators are more than happy to offer assistance. Enquire with our staff for more information.
Residents are encouraged to eat meals in the dining room so they can enjoy all the social benefits of life at Arcadian Cove. However, if you are feeling ill, we prefer that you stay in your apartment for your own wellbeing as well as that of other residents. Room service is provided free of charge during your illness, and for an additional fee if you choose to remain in your apartment for reasons other than illness. Arcadian Cove communities offer open dining hours, so you are free to stop by for breakfast, lunch, and dinner on your schedule. We also have snacks available at all times, and the hospitality bar is always open.
Arcadian Cove provides local transportation to doctor’s appointments when scheduled in advance. Check our weekly transportation schedule for details on upcoming shopping trips, or request that our Life Enrichment Coordinator do your shopping for you while we’re out.
If you would like our staff to stay with you during a medical appointment, an additional charge may apply. We strongly encourage residents’ families to provide transportation to doctor’s appointments, if possible, in order to remain up to date on any medical concerns.
If you still have questions, feel free to reach out to our caring team. We’re always here to help!
