Violet

Violet has been with Milestone for over a year and recently transitioned from our assisted living apartments to a memory care suite this past fall. Violet is also a hospice patient as was her husband Bud. Violet lost her husband of 70+ years this past October and hasn't been herself since. In my meetings with family over the past year, and in the time I have spent with Violet, painting has always been something she speaks fondly of. Knowing how much Violet used to enjoy painting gave me the idea to host a private paint event for Violet, her family, and her friends. We had a well-established local artist who created a unique painting for Violet's class come to the facility to paint with Violet and her friends! Violet loves barn scenes, and still sketches them often, which is the inspiration fo her painting for this event. We also provided Violet's favorite hamburger joint, Culver's.

Violet's close friends/fellow residents, as well, as her daughter-in-law, and family friend/milestone employee, also attended the event and had a Culver's lunch with Violet. We set up a special space, table, and flowers for the lunch.

The paint class was held in the club room for the ladies, who did a wonderful job of painting their barn scenes! A wonderful time was had by all! In addition, we also hung Violet's personal artwork in the main entrance hallway of Milestone in Woodruff as an art exhibit for all residents to enjoy. Violet is quite famous these days as everyone that walks by stops and enjoys her life's work!
