A group of them would go skating every night. She really didn’t care about the color of the skates, but money was tight. A year later, Santa delivered a pair of white skates underneath the tree. She was never able to skate backwards but had several moves other moves like the “shooting duck” and the “swan”. She continued to share her love of the sport while raising her kids. She had not been on the ice for over 40 years. We were able to take her back to watch a Christmas rehearsal of kids the age when she started.
There was a lot of laughter and telling stories of the times before they build in door ice rinks. Her daughter was able to be with us and enjoyed listening to several stories that she had never heard before.
